The cruise industry is known for its scale and high degree of internationalization. For instance, the Chinese cruise ship "Adora Magic City" involved the participation of over 1,000 domestic and foreign manufacturers.

According to Liu Hui, general manager of CSSC Cruises, the "Adora Magic City" has a total weight of 135,500 tons, a length of 323.6 meters, a width of 37.2 meters, and a height of 72.2 meters. The ship has the capacity to accommodate 5,246 passengers. Since its commissioning in November 2023 and its maiden voyage on New Year's Day 2024, the ship has completed 34 voyages and welcomed around 150,000 passengers.

The maiden voyage of the "Adora Magic City" was made possible by the establishment of a solid industrial chain - from the design and construction of the first cruise ship to the independent construction of large-scale cruises in China. This not only makes China the fifth country in the world with the capacity to design and build such vessels but also positions China as a country with fully independent operational capacity in the sector.

On April 20 of this year, the second large-scale domestic cruise ship entered the dock No. 2 of Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd, of China State Shipbuilding Corporation.

The No. 2 cruise ship is not only larger in size but also more advanced.

The No. 2 measures 341 meters in length, 37.2 meters in width, a total tonnage exceeding 140,000 tons, a maximum speed of 22.7 knots, and an increase from 19 guest rooms to 2,144. The ship's operation is more environmentally friendly.

Based on the same accommodation and entertainment area with a height of 16 floors, the optimization of the layout of the public area and the outdoor activities and leisure area of the No. 2 increased by 735 square meters and 1,913 square meters, respectively, compared to the first ship, improving passenger comfort and experience.

Although the ship has larger dimensions, construction speed has been accelerated. Based on a series of scientific research results and management experience, the second cruise ship anticipates a 20% increase in construction efficiency compared to the first.

Currently, the construction of the No. 2 exceeds 20%. It is expected that the ship will be named and commissioned by the end of 2026.
